Trying to be Cool

Trying to keep warm/being a nun???

Top: DIY / Shorts: Urban Outfitters / Scarf: XXI / Shoes: eBay

These were taken on a day when it was far too cold to be wearing a tank top, and the wind was extremely active. I've also been wearing my hair like this nonstop. I've always loved braids, so when I randomly created these I fell in love. I also feel some Lolita vibes seeping from it as well...

Wearing shorts around my hips is also another new thing for me. I'm so used to wearing high-waisted things, so hip- hugging bottoms are slightly different. I like when the crotch is low, it seems so unattractive, but then draws attention to your hips and me likes.

I will most likely keep wearing scarves/bandanas around my neck for a while. Something about it adds sophistication to an outfit (even if it's a bandana). I also have a weird fixation with necks so more neck-wear will be a thing.

Strangeness & Charm

Top: Thrifted [Karen Kane] / Jeans: J Brand / Skirt: Tobi / Shoes: Sammydress

Have you ever created an amazing outfit and you felt superb, and then you walked outside and it ruined the happiness you felt? That's exactly what happened on this day. It was muggy and rainy, so of course my mood was a bit drab. But, I was very excited because a really really cool girl from my school, Lily, wanted to take some pictures of me. She is an extremely talented photographer, sooo chill, and she loves pizza rolls {that is a very valid characteristic}. I do have to say that I was severely awkward and reserved during this rendezvous, so for that I apologize Lily!!! Her stunning photography can be found here

Who says I can't be undeniably awkward in the face of someone I've never met, but be my usual confident self at the same time? I'm not one to tell someone my life story the moment I meet them, or be really chatty with them. I keep a close circle of friends with whom I'm comfortable being around, so it is very hard for me to show my character to someone I've never met. I normally come across as snooty or rude (chronic bitch face), but it simply comes down me not being comfortable with other people. That makes me sound like an extreme hermit, but it's the truth. Now, I can be undeniably awkward, but exude confidence at the same time. I love myself enough to embrace my personality and not shy away from it. So yes, it is possible to be socially awkward but a total diva at the same time. (case closed)

I bought this skirt from Tobi knowing I was going to use it as a layering piece. It is noticeably short, so I don't believe I will be wearing it alone. I love the tulle, as it makes me feel like a puffy princess [all girls want to feel like this, don't kid yourself]. Wearing it over jeans was wonderfully comfortable and added a bit of diva to the outfit (a diva is the female version of a hustler...justsayin).

P.S. IT'S ALMOST FREAKIN CHRISTMAS (2 more exams bby)

Bandana Rama

Top: Thrifted / Pants: Urban Outfitters / Jacket: Mom's / Shoes: SammyDress

I'm going to be completely honest and let you know that I feel like Amelia Earhart, only because of my bandana (and it would be schweeet to fly a lil plane). I saw Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller wearing different neck scarves and she mentioned her friend sporting different bandanas around her neck, so I succumbed.

These pants have a funny little story behind them. I bought them online about two weeks ago and they looked so rad on the model (stores always do that...) so I was in. I giddily received them in the mail and immediately tried them on, only to be horrified because they looked like harem pants [Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Harem Pants..]. I kept them on for about an hour, whilst blogging on Tumblr, so I could get accustomed with the idea of debuting these pants in public. I even went downstairs in front of my family to get food, and of course my dad couldn't refrain from laughing. But as I kept them on longer, I grew to like the free flowiness that they provided for my legs. And that brings me to the present. I actually really like how they look now, as I've tried them on with different shoes and the sassiness level keeps increasing.

Now on to shoes. I ordered these from Sammydress and I fell in love. I don't know if you can really see them because of the lighting in these pictures (sry, it was storming outside and I had to document this), but they look almost like gogo boots with pony hair infused into the mix. The white portion is extremely shinny, and the pony hair part adds a little bit of 'yeah I have furry boots, what are you going to do about it?' in the mixture that makes this shoe. The grips on the bottom are actually very useful and help make it easier to walk with these shoes on, while adding the rugged look to them.

And now a little bit of me in gif form... (THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN)

Aye Aye Captain

Top: Urban Outfitters / Skirt: XXI / Leggings: Tobi / Shoes: eBay / Jacket & Hat: Purple Cow

Have you ever fallen in love with something that was undeniably meant to be in your wardrobe? That is exactly how I felt about this hat. I was browsing the accessories section at Purple Cow and found this gem. I honestly don't know how it is meant to be worn, but this is how I wear it- like a captain/cute French school girl maybe? I've been very into statement accessories like hats, scarves, and big jewelry, so be prepared for more of that to come.

This cami is one of the other things I got from Urban Outfitters. It's so simple but a little girly with the peplum style bottom. It's also very free flowing, which limits your bra choices (but if you're like me and you don't have to wear one, it's AWESOME, except when you flash passerbys...).

The last two pictures are for comedic effect. Claudia and I have way too much fun with the tripod and my brick wall. She filled in my eyebrows for me, and now I'm obsessed with that look. Strong eyebrows with minimal makeup.

I may start asking questions at the end of my posts. Today's question will be: What are your Tumblr URLs? (I'm always on Tumblr and looking for new blogs to follow, so let me know!)

Signing out, the Captain [my teacher finishes his emails like this]

Miss Jackson

Top: Purple Cow / Jacket: Thrifted / Shorts: Urban Outfitters / Boots: XXI / Hat: Thrifted

It's Cyber Monday, and I'm currently crying. I am (sadly) not going to purchase anything because I already bought some stuff last week. It's a tragedy.

These shorts from Urban Outfitters are surprisingly comfortable and quite beautiful. I love the embroidered detailing on the thigh, that's what drew me to them. I feel kind of like a cowboy with my hat, but a stylish one correct? The shirt also brings a dash of 'I'm sophisticated, but also sassy, so don't mess with me.'

Well, we endured a cold week and now it is currently around 80 degrees. It doesn't feel like Christmas is 23 days away because we are fanning ourselves instead of shivering by a fire. Gotta love Louisiana weather <3

Also obsessing over Panic! at the Disco's new album, Miss Jackson has been on repeat

X-odus

Top and Green Shorts: Thrifted / Leggings: Tobi / Carpet Jacket: Miss KL / Shoes: Thrifted, Nine West

Yes, I AM alive. I really do apologize for the lack of posts, but last week was insane. It was the week before we got out for Thanksgiving break, and all of the teachers were piling on the work. Talk about nasty.

Now that it is actually getting cold, I'm able to layer on different pieces and I'm overjoyed because of it. I got these croc leggings a while back and I love the texture on them mixed with my awkward skirt/capri hybrid. I also have a top similar to this one, but it's a solid khaki color. For some reason it just reminds me of the colonial time with the straight neckline and hooks up the front. I saw these shoes at one of my local thrift stores and it was love at first sight. I've been wanting pointy toe shoes, but I like the pointed part to be dramatically long, and most of the stores online don't have that. And of course I had to add on my furry carpet jacket to polish the look off.

I don't know if you noticed, but I also darkened my hair. I've been wanting to dye it black for a while since I was getting tired of my boring brown color. My mom did persuade me to do the dark brown/black color and I'm loving it. Now I kinda want to chop it into a sassy bob, who knows...?

Okay now onto something a tad serious. I know that my style is changing, and some people may not like it, but I assure you it's for the better. Don't get me wrong, I love dressing like a 90's kick-ass grrl or a bohemian princess, but now I'm transitioning into a more sophisticated phase. I have always loved dressing one way and then switching it around the next day. I don't think everything I wear now will be so mature because I'm still a seventeen year old. Trust me, I'm still going to whip out my overalls and space boots on occasion. I'm still a 90's kid at heart.

P.S. WHO'S FREAKIN EXCITED FOR THANKSGIVING FOOD?! (crunchy macaroni omg yas)
